(10) ENGLISH LANGUAGE CHALLENGES. 260

English language Challenges

I have to say that I finished a British English course five six years ago. It is true that, when people don't practice a language normally, it’s possible that they forget it.

And in my case, I forgot some things that I've learned in my last course.
This experience learning English at university helped me to remember some topics and gave me the possibility to improve my vocabulary.

In the same way I think that the use of blogs is a very good educational tool that didn't exist in my last course of English. It's a very good option to motivate people and improve their writing way. We can develop our thinking skills and creativity.

I really need to improve my pronunciation and vocabulary and I'm thinking in take another course, I hope to do this in Europe or Sydney, I don't know if I will have the possibility to do it the next year for three months (it's because is a very expensive plan)!

These days I'm using the English language frequently. Especially when I have to read in English a lot of publications, papers and books to do my thesis project, it's very important for me.
Also in my free time I try to use it watching TV, for example on Netflix. I try to watch series in English and if I need, just if I need, I use subtitles but in English too.

In brief, nowadays it’s very important that people learn one or two languages more apart from their maternal language. It's not because a travel, it's because most of jobs needs that people speak different languages, and also we can find a very good job abroad.

(9) MY PROGRAM. 250

My program

I think that my program is a very good option, is for that reason that I chose it, but if I could change something I would include some important things.
The program have only five main subjects and I think that we need to learn more about quality systems and some applicative subjects adapted to nowadays. It would be a good idea to do some visits to factories in Chile, big and small food industries to know how the processing way is.

The workload in the first year is good, but in the second year I think should be heavier (and being less important doing the thesis project!).

The length of studies is perfect because there are people who work all the day and they can go to university at night.

It is true that in comparison to Beauchef Campus, “we aren’t modern”, but I think that is very comfortable. I would include more green areas and a big canteen. I think the infrastructure is always in very good clean state… and the coffee break is incredibly good (and delicious)!

We use a multimedia projector all the time. The teaching methodology is good, but I think that some teachers continue being the “laboratory teachers” and in a Master we need more “practical teachers” that have more experience in food industries, in the action camp. This is very important for me, but in general I considered that the staff is well selected.

Another thing that I have to say is that we need to be more united… my classmates are very indifferent and I really don’t like it!

(8) WINTER HOLIDAYS. 240

ARGENTINA AND CHILE: PATAGONIA

The next winter holidays... I'm going to do my tesis (it is a pity), I hope to finish soon, because I have a presentation on August. It's possible that I'm going to be doing the last tests and experiments in that moment!
Nevertheless, I have a better plan and I'm doing a itinerary right now... Patagonia is my next adventure...I'm going to be "free" on November (just before my last tesis presentation)  I think these might be my vacation.
I have a ticket to go to Patagonia!
I would like to travel alone, a long time ago I can't travel alone, and I think that I like it, because I can visit the places I want and It's an excelent oportunity to think about my proyects and "a time for me". However if someone wants to go with me I don't have problems too.

First, I would like to start the trip in Puerto Montt, next I want to know Frutillar and Osorno, because the last time I was in the south I couldn't visit those places. The next destination is Bariloche (Argentina), I want to visit again to Argentina.

Then I want to travel by bus through the southern highway and taking some stops. Finally I want to visit Punta Arenas (Chile) and doing some tours near Torres del Paine.

My trip would last 8 days. It's going to be my last long trip in Chile, because I have to back to Perú. I can't leave Chile without knowing the Patagonia!!!

(7) PETS AND ANIMAL RIGHTS. 230

PETS AND ANIMAL RIGHTS

I am not a “doglover” or an animal lover, but I respect them a lot. They are living beings and I don’t allow the animal abuse.
I don’t have pets now but I would like to have a one. When I was a child I used to have pets in my house, for example: dogs, cats, birds, etc. I think that people, who like animals, are better people, they are more sensible!
When I was at university I had two subjects in which we did researches with rats.
In Nutrition, we only feed the rat and evaluate the result in their body, they were obviously well fed. On the other hand: Toxicology, we have to make some tests with additives and rats. I really felt bad! … However a big part of products in the pharmacology or food area, were test in animals before to be used by humans. It could be a “necessary evil” until now, I hope that it changes soon.
In zoos there are a lot of animals that need to be in their natural habitat, and is so unfair that they are in exhibition, I don’t like zoos, I prefer to see them, in their natural habitat.
I have been bitten by a dog but was a harmless attack, I don’t think that dogs should be banned, but in specific breed as Pitbull, people have to warn.
If I were an animal I would like to be a dolphin because is very intelligent and beautiful!!!

(6) POSTGRADUATE STUDIES.220

Postgraduate Studies

I must say that I am studying a Master now, as yet I consider that is not going to be the last one,  I would like to take a doctorate course… to do what?  Because I would like to teach at university (in the future) when I get tired of working in a factory. And it’s necesary to have a doctor degree and I might be a researcher.

I have not decided what I’m going to study and this is an issue that I have to evaluate (First I have to finish this Master!!!)
I hope to study in another continent. I’m thinking in Australia or Europe. Specially in a Europen university because the food industry is highly developed there.

Definitely the best option is studying in a partime course (whereas I work). In fact I don’t trust in distance learning, specially when is about a cientific line of investigation.

By contrast, if I don’t study another postgrade course, I have always wanted to study another career (since I was a teenager). I used to like psychology topics, and I have read some articles about that. Of course, it’s totally different from what I do. When I talk about that, people say that is a crazy idea because I'm a “number girl” but I think that is not impossible, I want to do it in the future!

(5) MY FUTURE JOB. 210

T would like to be my own boss

I’ve been working in some factories of food, and for my experience I can say that I would like to be my own boss,  and in the future I would like to have my own Alimentary Industry.

Certainly I might have a lot of work and I might work at weekends, but it is the price of being the boss! I wouldn’t mind do overtime in my own Factory.
I would like to work indoor but not in an office, I really find it bored, I prefer to be in a production area or laboratory.

I would like to have a job in which I travel sometimes, maybe to have long meetings on a regular basis, also I might decide who is going to be hired and who is going to be fired. Is a very hard responsability to starting a business.

The salary is an important topic, I would like to earn enought money to travel and buy everything I need and support my family, and also save money for future projects.
Just now I’m doing a major in food, is a postgrade. It’s going to help me me to be independent in the future, by no means that  is the end of my academic life, then I would like to study another one or maybe a Doctorate , and also another career.

(4) BOOKS. 200

Books that I love!!!

I usually read a lot all the time since I'm  doing my thesis. When people recomend me a book, I get it soon, and start to read it. The problem is when it doesn't captivate me, I become hazy and stop reading it.
I think that nowadays I read less than in the past. I’ve read approximately twenty books (or more).

I like read novels  and short stories of latinoamerican genres (fiction and non-fiction books). My favorite  writer is Pablo Coelho (he is the number one!) I’ve read most of his books. Besides I’ve read enjoyable books by Walter Riso, whose books are about interesting and interesting topics and maybe he is my second favorite writer.
My favourite book is "El Alquimista" by Paulo Coelho, I was a teenager  when I read it and I found it hard to read! … Finally I understood it.

My favourite character from literatura is definitely "El Principito". I really love that story.

The last book I read is "Dios vuelve en una Harley". It is a very funny book. I  took me two months to read(because I used to be busy). It is about a nurse who has a meeting with God. The book recounts about her personal life, I recomend this book specially for lonely  people.

(3) MOVIES. 180.

HOW TO SURVIVE FAR FROM HOME?

How to survive far from home? (and not die trying)

Firstly I have to say that I'm temporarily here in Chile, I've been here for a year and despite everything... I have much to learn here.

It is true that living without your family and friends and far from home could be a very interesting experience, from learning to organize a new home, to learning how to cook your own food and trying to make new friends.

It's necessary to make friends in the place where you're living, because spending much time alone could be counter-productive (that's the key to continue living alone), if not, you are going to have a boring stay.

The second point is that you have to be cleverer and more attentive than in your city, because you are alone and it's not going to be easy to solve a big problem... remember there's nobody around to help you. They're far and maybe they have enough problems too.

Another aspect of the issue is if you miss your home while you're adapting to a new country, you could discover new activities to do, for example travelling around this new territory, try new food, and ever try to understand the way that people speak. This is the best part! Specially in Chile where people speak quickly and differently!.

(2) THE BEST CONCERT I'VE BEEN TO. 170

MANA CONCERT

I have a few favourite music groups. When I used to live in Perú these groups didn’t get to Arequipa (the city where I lived). For instance Maná, I have really liked their songs since I was a teenager.

The best concert I’ve been was the Maná concert in Santiago, one month ago, it was in Movistar Arena and it was the first time that I was in that place, and I really enjoyed that place.

Maná is a Mexican group, they play romantic music. There are five members Fher, is the lead singer. The group began in the 90’s and they have a lot of fans in the world.

The concert was very well organized and so entertaining. So the fans were excited.
I felt that I knew every song that they sang. I really enjoyed it because I think that the voice and the quality of the concert is very similar to the version you hear on a radio. They are really professional and original.
Furthermore I went with my friends (the best company) and they were excited too.

(1) A COUNTRY I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT. 160

GREECE: A COUNTRY I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT

I think that when people visit  other places and other realities of the world, they become better person.  That's why I love to travel, because I can compare my reality with another countries, and I feel free.

The objective is to know another culture, another people with different traditions and cities with typical landscapes. Europe is for me totaly unknown and I want to explore it.

In particular, I would like to visit Greece. I really love when people post photos taken at this country.
There are a lot of places with old architecture, and beautiful designs.
I know about some places that you can visit, for example The Parthenon and Erechtheion in Athens.
About the food, I would like to taste Mediterranean diet which is famous for being healthy and also it has influence of Italy and Turkey. I would like to take many beautiful photos oceanfront.
I just want to visit Greece as a tourist and I hope that will be part of a long journey around Europe.
